Description
Wallace fountains are famous public drinking fountains made of cast iron, mostly found throughout Paris. Designed by sculptor Charles-Auguste Lebourg and funded by the British philanthropist Sir Richard Wallace in the late 19th century, they were created to provide free drinking water to citizens after the Franco-Prussian War. Today, featuring four cariatids that represent kindness, charity, sobriety, and simplicity, they have become iconic symbols of the Parisian landscape.
